Why?
We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect everyone.
Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health.
As a society, we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for help with their own mental health.
With over 72 million days lost a year due to Mental Health related sickness in the UK alone, there is an estimated cost impact of £45 Billion, which is an average of £1300 per employee a year in absenteeism and presenteeism.
Presenteeism accounts for twice as much in losses than absences, so how do you spot when someone in the team is struggling, especially when 1 in 6 British adults experience anxiety and depression relating to stress?
Research shows that 40% of employees have taken time off work due to mental well-being, yet 53% have reported it as physical sickness or holiday due to stigma.
Now more than ever with the current global situation where people's working patterns are changing and they are experiencing huge changes in their daily routine, it is your responsibility to care for the mental health of your teams.
Stand apart from others and make a positive shift to reducing stigma in the workplace and supporting positive conversations and attitudes to mental health.
Our clients have reported that H.R caseloads have dropped around performance management issues where the managers have attended this training course as well as a more open and supporting team network within organisations.
